A 7:45 PM fire broke out at the Sabini Furniture warehouse complex located at 175 Pacific Street (near Willow Street) and became a conflagration, burning all the attached buildings in the complex. The building was a livery stable before it was a warehouse and was scheduled for demolition by the Urban Redevelopment Commission. Thirty-two firefighters fought the fire through the night and successfully prevented it from spreading to the nearby occupied apartments. Three Firefighters suffered minor injuries.
